Great American Cleanup Recruitment Underway

Keep Southeast Ohio Beautiful, a regional affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. is looking for volunteers throughout southeast Ohio to host a Great American Cleanup event, the nation’s largest annual community improvement program. A Great American Cleanup project can include beautifying parks and recreation areas, cleaning waterways, handling recycling collections, picking up litter, planting trees and flowers, and conducting educational programs and litter-free events.

Planned southeast Ohio Great American Cleanup events:

• Athens County, Saturday, March 23, 2013, Meadowview Farm Roadside Cleanup

• Perry County, Saturday, April 13, 2013, Ultimate Recycling Day

• Athens, Sunday, April 14, 2013, Athens City Beautification Day

• Athens County, Saturday, April 27, 2013, US Hwy 33 Roadside Cleanup

• Lawrence County, Saturday, May 4, 2013, Lawrence Countywide Cleanup Day

Last year, Keep Southeast Ohio Beautiful partners recruited hundreds of volunteers in support of several cleanup activities that helped make a difference in local communities. Nationally, volunteers donated 7.9 million hours in 2012 to clean, beautify and improve 21,000 communities during 30,000 events in all 50 states and beyond.

Keep Southeast Ohio Beautiful is a new regional affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. that was spearheaded by Wayne National Forest to help create a healthier and safer place to live, work and play in thirteen Ohio counties. Today, the affiliate works as a collaborative with several partners from southeast Ohio.
