The Southern Ohio Medical Center Portsmouth Life Center will be hosting a free Open House from 5-7pm on December 18.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to learn more about the programs offered at the Life Center,” Community Health and Wellness Director Wendi Waugh said. “Not only is it free of charge, but it’s open to the public regardless of LIFE Center membership.”
Several group fitness classes both new and traditional will be showcased during the open house, and there will also be a preview of upcoming youth fitness opportunities. In the New Year, children ages 10 to 14 can attend some of the group classes when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For children between the ages of 6 and 14, there is also a new “Fit > Fat” class that introduces fun fitness with a set up similar to that of an obstacle course. Youth can also take advantage of many Aquatics programs and individualized swim lessons. All of this will be previewed at the Open House.
“We will also have personal trainers on hand to explain the benefits of the programs we offer. Plus, the SOMC Community Health Team will be providing free A1C and Cholesterol screenings,” Waugh said. “They can also measure your body fat and BMI.”
In addition to the December 18 Open House, all Life Center locations are featuring a special on memberships during the holiday season.
“If you purchase a Life Center membership during the month of December, we will waive the enrollment fee,” Waugh said.
