The Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual dinner on Thursday, May 26th at the SOMC Friends Center starting at 6 p.m. with a Social Hour with Dinner and Program at 7 p.m. Amir Eylon, Ohio Tourism Director will be the keynote speaker.
Eylon has been the Director of the Travel and Tourism Division of the Ohio Department of Development since 2007.
According to information about the department, "The Ohio Division of Travel and Tourism is the premier source of information for travelers and media about Ohio's vibrant tourism experiences, attractions, and economy. Its marketing programs contributed to estimated visitor spending of $33.1 billion and 560,000 full-time equivalent tourism industry jobs in Ohio in 2005. A part of the Ohio Department of Development, the Division's mission is to promote and celebrate Ohio's unique travel opportunities and market the state's outstanding quality of life."
"Eylon will be speaking on the economic impact of tourism in the state, he will talk about things going on in our area as well," Lisa Carver, Administrator with the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce said.
As a part of the event the chamber will give-out their annual Distinguished Citizen of the Year award, Chamber Member of the Year award and Making a Difference award(s).
